PSA systems for Hydrogen Production by Steam Reforming

Natural gas as a high quality, clean industrial energy and material has an important strategic significance in the industrial development. Hydrogen production from natural gas as a mature hydrogen production method, not only used in the production of synthetic ammonia, methanol and oil refining system to provide hydrogen source, but also a large number of used in the electronics industry, metallurgical industry, food industry, float glass, fine organic synthesis of aerospace industry and other fields.

Introduction

Natural gas is pressurized desulfurization and mixed with water vapor into a converter, and under the reaction of cracking and reforming on the catalyst, the system generates hydrogen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and other components. After recycled the heat in the reforming gas, the carbon monoxide gas was reacted with water vapor continually to convert into Hydrogen and carbon dioxide. The hydrogen rich gas was purified by PSA system to obtain purified hydrogen, and the  PSA off-gas is returned to the converter to combustion to recycle heat. The reaction principle is as follows:

  CH+ H2O → 3H+ CO - Q

CO + H2O → H+ CO+ Q

Performance Indicators

  • Device size: according to user needs generally 50 ~ 50000Nm3/h;
  • Product purity: 99% ~ 99.999% (v/v);
  • Product pressure: 0.5 ~ 3.0MPa (G);
  • Temperature: normal temperature.
